Audio skips on playback
My audio playback (streams and cd's both) have recently started to intermittently skip for a few seconds at a time. Typically the track will play without problem for the first two minutes or so and then skip for a few seconds, resume normal playback and then skip for a few seconds, etc.
I am running windows vista premium and creative labs xtreme gamer sound card. I refreshed the driver and replaced the soundcard with no improvement. Problem occurs in Rhapsody, Windows Media Player, Itunes, and on CD playback. Any help would be much appreciated |

Re: Audio skips on playback
It sounds like a driver problem, but you might be able to mitigate this by turning up the process priority in the task manager. Open up the task manager with Control Alt Delete and right click on whatever program is playing your music. Change the priority level from normal to Above Normal or High, and see if this makes things run more smoothly.

Re: Audio skips on playback
Step 1 :
Uninstall the respective IDE channel 1. Click Start and type run in the search field andthen select 'Run'. 2. Type 'devmgmt.msc' without quotes and click Ok. 3. Click the + next to the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers 4. Right click on Primary IDE Channel(or Secondary IDE channel) and Select Uninstall. 5. Click OK 6. Restart the Notebook. You need to uninstall Secondary IDE channel, if the PIO mode is listed in this channel Step 2: Reset the BIOS while the notebook restarts. 1. Turn on or restart the computer. 2. Press the F10 key when the "Press F10 to enter SETUP, F12 to boot from LAN" message is displayed on the screen. 3. Under Exit menu, select the option "Load Setup Defaults." 4. Click Enter. Step 3: Install chipset driver |
