Hotspot buttons sometimes don't work

Hi

On some web sites I visit, some of the (what I call) hotspot butons don't seem to work.
What I mean by those are the buttons you click on on the screen to take you to another page - such as on a hotel booking page. eg Enter details, click on the "next" button........but it's just like there's no command behind it. Some of the other similar buttons on the same screen do work.

Tried on another computer, and they do work !!

Both computers fairly new and Vista Home Premium.

Is it something to do with Javascript (whatever that is) ?

Re: Hotspot buttons sometimes don't work

It could be... and it could also have to do with IE7's 'phishing filter', or pop-up blocker (which is a good thing).
What version of Java do you have? The latest is (JRE) 6u4

This is how to update your Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u4 allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Programs and Features and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Re: Hotspot buttons sometimes don't work

Hi Jacee

Thanks for this.
Tried it but no difference.

The machine is doing some odd things - don't know if they're related.

eg tried to print your reply so I could follow it but as soon as I pressed print icon, machine froze. Only way out was via task manager !!

Re: Hotspot buttons sometimes don't work

It sounds like a driver or software problem.
