Vista Boot Failure
For nearly two weeks I have been working with tech support at Microsoft trying to repair corrupted files that prevent Live Update from working. Before we were able to resolve that problem, the system went into meltdown. At this point I cannot boot at all, not even into safe mode. Very early in the process I get a screen with this error message:
File: \Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exeNo option will allow me to successfully load anything. I've tried the "Repair System" routine with the Installation disk, and it hung in an endless loop. I shut it down after two hours. How can I run chkdsk on this machine? I don't want to spend any further time on fixing things if the disk itself is a problem. I've only had this computer for seven weeks, and have spent endless hours troubleshooting. Can anyone give me hope that Vista might actually work? I'm ready to upgrade to XP! ![]() |
