Can't Delete files..
Any ideas on this?
I have several WMV files which I find when I search..and then when I check the location there is nothing there. So when I search it it's there so when I click it it come up with: Could not find this item This is no longer located in (foldername).Verify the items location and try again. I have a tried an unlocker and it does nothing...also checked in safe mode and the file doesn't even come up when I search...HELP! I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. ![]() |

Re: Can't Delete files..
Download this http://www.howtogeek.com/downloads/TakeOwnership.zip scan for malware and then install (double click on the file named InstallOwnership.reg). Now you will have on your right click menu a take ownership selection. Right click on the file you want to delete and select Take ownership and then delete, problem solved (we hope). cheers ps welcome to TSF! 'come again'! ![]()

Re: Can't Delete files..
I'm having the same problems right now. I was able to use these instructions to get rid of the remaining jpg files that would not delete off my desktop. But the program didn't work for the folders (non system related) that I need to get rid of ASAP. Any unique ideas or methods anyone?

Try this - (you will need to change the name of the folder - \users\username\temp): START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe select Run as Administrator. Then perform the following with your folder name - one line at a time and hit enter (you may have to right click on the top of the DOS box and select EDIT then Paste) - del "c:\users\username\temp\*.*" rd "c:\users\username\temp" Please advise of results.
