Multiple Dislay nightmare after laptop meltdown
My laptop recently imploded due to months of neglect (Not running virusscan, defrag etc, caused it to become highly unstable and i had to do a cleanwipe and lose everything, for some reason i could not get the thing to write any dvds or recognise any usb devices without crashing)
Seems to be stable with a fresh start however i will be keeping a close eye on it incase any components have become damaged. Before this happened i was running nVidia 100.95 drivers, with all the latest vista updates, with a second monitor set up which i used the nVidia control panel to change the options for, and everything was peachy. Now however, i have the same setup, latest vista updates, 100.95 drivers. But i cant change the multiple monitor options, they keep reverting to whatever Vista feels i need... Even if i set them through Vista. I can get it to extend the desktop just fine, and i can get the external screen to display my desktop just fine, but the one thing i need right now, clone the desktop, it just will not do, it keeps either reverting to an earlier setup, or just displaying a black screen on one of the monitors. Please any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea why it worked perfectly before, but now does not. :( System Specs: Dell Inspiron 9400 2gb Ram Geforce Go 7900 Both monitors (The laptop screen and my Gateway external) are native 1440x900 if that makes any difference. Unfortunately i need to often switch between a cloned desktop, and an extended screen, this issue has me tearing my hair out. :( |
