wireless USB adapters not powering up
Hello, ill try and explain the problem as best i can.
First of i have had problems with my internet for a while - random dc - auto reconnecting etc. Recently its just went beyond anything it used to be like. Now its connecting(was) for around 30mins the wireless connection dropped and when i search for a connection there was none there although there should be, I installed all the drivers i could find and even tried a few wireless adapters. I have now installed vista in some hope that this may help but the same problem remains. I have no idea at all what to do now. What the problem "feels" like to me is the usb keeps turning itself off or something along those lines as it stops flashing but sometimes ( very rarely now) if i remove the wireless adapter and put it back in it will find the connection to my router and connect again. Im totally going crazy atm, going to spend the night getting it fixed if not get a cable and just cable the router upto the pc as this is doimg my ***s in. Any help or ideas would be greatly welcomed. Thanks edit: when i manually try and install the usb device(add hardware) it installs the driver and gets to the end and says error code 10, can not start.. edit: its a D-link DWL-G122 im trying to use atm was trying a RALINK earlier, same problem on both so.. Re: wireless USB adapters not powering up
If you had the same problem with all adapters I'd say its the router thats the problem, is it set up properly, bare in mind sometimes they like to play with u and jumble all settings up to annoy you.
Do all other USB devices work ok?

Re: wireless USB adapters not powering up
hello, my other pc is wired to the router. I have tried 2 routers and 2 usb wireless adapters. Now when i put in the wireless usb adapter its coming up as a mass storage device on the device manage, i have tried deleting it and rebooting the pc to reinstall the correct drivers but its still coming up as a mass storage device im totally baffled atm, it has worked on both routers but the quality has been poor random DC's long periods unable to find networks etc now its just alot worse lol :(
edit: the reason i double posted was i wasnt sure where this would be better brought up. Last edited by robbo21 : 10-09-2007 at 12:07 PM. |

Re: wireless USB adapters not powering up
You are positive the USB device is a wireless adapter and not a mistaken case?
What are the makes and models of the usb devices?
