[SOLVED] Vista VS RAM
I decided to install vista home premium (32bit) on my main rig yesterday and had no problems at all. The only thing I was a little concerned with was the amount of RAM it was using. After installing it, it was using 30% of my RAM, and sense then it has gradually risen to 41%. I'm basically just wondering if this is normal or if it has anything to do with being booted up for long periods of time maybe. Any ideas?

Re: Vista VS RAM
That amount of RAM as opposite to all ppl are posting critics is used by superfetch to increase speed using the cache algorythms...GuruOo said so it's for speed...
See that's it's moving your HD for 2 minutes....it's caching... regards Sergio

Re: Vista VS RAM
You can disable superfetch if you want in computer management. Just right click 'Computer' and select 'Manage.' Then click on 'Services' and scroll down to 'Superfetch,' disable it and select start manually.
And if you have problems with excessive disk activity after you boot up, you might want to disable Indexing on your hard disk(s). That's what I did and now my PC is running much smoother and quieter. |
