Idea Few problems with vista and hardware

Hi everyone.

Just joined these forums after finding them on the internet when searching for help.

I've read a few of the topics and it seems like a very friendly place so I am looking forward to being a part of it, and helping other people out where i can.

Well, heres my problem. I have just built a new computer and installed vista on it. All of the hardware attached to the motherboard is fine and has been picked up in vista and installed etc.

Now I have a problem with two things.

First of all, my old printer that I use for normal printing won't install at all!
Its a lexmark z65. Does anyone know how I can get this to work on vista?

My next problem is my epson scanner, thats a epson perfection 1260. does anyone know a way to get this working also?

I've tried but can't do it so any ideas would be very welcome and much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Craig

Re: Few problems with vista and hardware

Go here for a driver for the Epson scanner driver
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...atform=Windows

The Lexmark z65 does not have a VISTA driver available and is not listed on their VISTA compatibility list. Sometimes the XP or Windows 2000 drivers may work but no guarrantee.

I just purchased PC with vista program. Unfortunatley there are NO printers that are compatible with Vista! I had to contact HP ( printer I purchased) AND tech suuport for my Pc ( I think also microsoft win can help). Anyone that you contact will have to walk you through some things that will make it compatible. Did you know that the Federal Agencies REFUSE to upgrade to Vista due to compatability problems ( and other issues) So, I would advise you to contact any one of those, to see if ONE of them can help "install " that printer for you, otherwise, it wont work. Good luck!

Re: Few problems with vista and hardware

I'm not sure what someone told you but I have 5 printers that include a HP Laserjet II, (2 other HP's (8450 and 7260) and (2 Epsons, one old 740 and new R360). They all work with VISTA and most with the drivers already installed in VISTA. The others were available from the manufacturer. So there are many printer compatible with VISTA. However some of the old printing applications are not and most of the manuafacturers do not intend to update them.

Re: Few problems with vista and hardware

Youll probley have to call Lexmark and get updated software for your computer the previous software wont work with windows vista. i just had to buy a new printer because of the same problem until i found out that you could call Lexmark, i had a X73 and its software was out of date. Oh yea and youll probly have to do the same with the scanner.
