OS: XP

Alright, so we bought a used computer with Vista on it, and we wanted to run both Vista and XP on two different partitions.
Seemed like a small enough problem. So, we followed a guide we found and everything seemed to work just perfectly, until afterwards, ofcourse. Blah. Now, we couldnt start Vista, as the PC boots automatically in XP. After looking up how to change which OS to boot at startup, it became obvious that Vista had gotten messed up somehow. The only solution to this we have found (on the internet) is repairing vista with the installation CD/DVD, but... theres only one problem, we didnt get that CD when we bought it. So basically, would it be possible to 'repair' Vista somehow without the installation cd? Probably not, we just want to be sure before we give up completely. I apologise for the bad english, and hope it made some sense atleast. Heh. And I know Im completely useless when it comes to computers haha, ooh i really messed up this time. Didnt I? Thankyou- :] Last edited by Kimma : 08-03-2007 at 12:06 PM. |

Re: Running both Vista and XP, problems
Hi, When you start your computer up, does it come up with a screen possibly with your computer manufactures logo e.g. HP, Compaq, E-System?
Did you install a bcd edit or VistaBootPro? (Something to say which windows is on what partition?) |
