winvista - can't hibernate

hello,

i have a lg laptop, using win-vista home basic.

a couple of days ago i cleaned my harddrive using the disk cleanup utility.

one of the options i checked to clean was "hibernation temp files" (or something similar, i cant remember now).

i thought it was just some unneeded temporary files. eventually not!

since the cleanup, i don't have the option of hibernation when i shut down the laptop.

i couldn't find anywhere the option of turning hibernation on.

can someone help me with that?

Re: winvista - can't hibernate

The hibernate button can disappear after a disk cleanup. After you delete the hibernate file. Anyway there is a quick way to get back the hibernate button. Click on your Vista start menu and right click on the command prompt. Make sure you choose to run as administrator.

Then Key the following command:

powercfg /hibernate on

Whambam alacazam check your shutdown options you should see the hibernate option appear again
