lexmark all in one problems with vista

Hi can anyone out there tell me what AIOC exe stands for - i have tried installing my lexmark 1270 all in one - first using the installation disc and then using vista updates but now my scanner button wont work on the printer and it keeps giving me this error message ~AIOC exe has stopped running installation has not completed - yet the install is finished but i cannot scan yet i can print.?

Through Add/Remove programs, uninstall all Lexmark items.

Next, make sure that the printer is deleted (Control Panel-Printers)

Disconnect the USB cable from the PC.

Reboot.

Insert the Lexmark CD, and let it run. When it tells you to, connect the USB cable form the printer to the pc.

To Chevvy - Thanks I had already tried, however I tried again this time i downloaded the updated drivers for it first and then reinstalled the printer without using the disc and it worked - thank you - but, and there is always a but - When i turn my computer on to be able to use the printer I have to unplug and the replug in the USB cable and then all is ok any ideas?. Sally
