90-day technical support at no cost for Windows Vista (retail)
New Retail Consumer Support Options To Launch for with Windows Vista
Up until Windows XP (included), consumers who bought and installed Windows retail products, were entitled to call Microsoft at no charge for technical help with their product installation and for two additional support inquiries. Since Jan 30th, 2007 this has changed for the Windows Vista operating system. Now customers can contact Microsoft as often as they need for their Windows Vista issues, but this is at no charge only within a 90-day timeframe. For Windows Vista, the 90-day support timeframe will start when the customer activates the product. (Microsoft Product Activation -MPA- policy requires that products such as Windows Vista be activated within 30 days of installing the product.) Aforementioned policy is for FPP (Full-Packaged, i.e. "Retail") Products only. Customers who bought a preinstalled Microsoft product from a computer manufacturer (i.e. an OEM Windows Vista version), will receive technical support from that manufacturer. However, for FPP Vista, this policy is valid regardless if it is a Full or an Upgrade version. |
