Hello and thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Months ago a server was bought, booted and sbs 2003 was installed on it for the business. After all said and done, installing fax board, software, AD, etc. Everything they required i believe i installed but before we can move on to the next projects I have to fix a problem with the Client computers accessing the domain. currently there are 5 computers connected to the server with proper cals etc. The problem occurs when the profile changes from local to domain. I have tried transferring the profiles using different methods to try and solve the problem here is what i tried and the outcome. regedit - changing the profileimagepath to the folder i want used. - this caused permission issues with the domain account not having proper credentials to access the local computer profile i said forget that and tried this. Transfer files and settings (XP) from old computer to the new computer - This process didn't copy everything, and left the new profile on the domain looking and feeling corrupt. this being unacceptable i tried another solution My Computer -> properties -> advanced -> profiles -> copy to - Now while performing this last trial i first created the account, logged into the domain with the account, logged out, logged on as administrator of the domain, performed the copy to new domain profile from local profile. (to prevent any credential problems) This appeared to work except that when (while testing other issues) admin rights were granted to select users to help isolate other problems. All computers with domain admin rights had perfect profile transfers when the admin rights are taken away, they get a blue background and the xp machines boot up load to classic. I can't alter the backgrounds and screensaver etc. I can't perform any changes at all that i should be able to as a domain user, I checked through the gpo and can't find anything that would be hindering their ability to alter their computers apperance. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to solve this problem without granting admin rights to everyone ? |
