USB HD enclosure
its an ultra hd enclosure purchased from altexs, i plug it in and turn it on windows recognises it and installs a driver, but then it says an error occured and the device will not work properly. device manager says device cannot start. did the trouble shoot to no fix. drive is set to master and ultra products website does not have alternate drivers availiable.
I've seen this posted on some other os threads, but have not seen a real solution to it yet, unless ive just missed it in the search somewhere. any help would be appreciated |

Re: USB HD enclosure
Where did the hard drive you put into it come from? Are you certain that drive is not damaged/broken?

Re: USB HD enclosure
Ok i seem to have found what was my issue. the drive was western digital. on western digital harddrives it tells you on the bottom of the hard drive which jumper is master, i went by that and set the jumper to master. however on the actual label it shows master is no jumper. So when it says make sure jumper is set as master, just take the jumper off. it installed fine after that but letter did not automatically assign. just goto Control Panel> Administrative tools> computer manager> disk manager> and set a specific drive letter and it worked absolutely flawless. so if your having this problem with a wd hdd, just take jumper off and then try
