Re: power on password

yes. you need to clear the cmos on your system board to clear all boot passwords. keep in mind this clears all settings in the bios to factory default, but this will do the trick. Hope this helps!

Re: power on password

turn the computer off
remove the power lead from the back
take the side off
remove the cmos battery
move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2
replace the battery
put the side on
replug in the power lead
boot the computer

Re: power on password

This link gives various specs on your system & tons of other information: http://h18002.www1.hp.com/products/q...12130_div.HTML

on page: 6-51 of the service manual, shows how to remove the RTC battery (Cmos) which after about 5-10 mins, will reset the system to factory defaults. here is the link: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=re...zHst3cnkv3hO3A

I really hope this does the trick. Good luck!

Re: power on password

if you do not state in the first post it is a laptop it is assumed it is a desktop and you will receive instructions for a desktop
which sometimes can agravate the problem
