OS: win xp sp2


Problem with shared folder rights in win2003 server

I have a shared folder on win2003 standarad RC2 server.When I give them access rights to the shared folder its works fine for some time.But every 12 hours automatically it will loose all the rights&I have to configure it again.Can u pls tell me solution for this prob.

Try this. Right after you configure the permissions of the folder do the following.

Open a command prompt by going to START>RUN and type CMD press ENTER

At the command prompt type GPUPDATE /FORCE

After you do this check the permissions again to see if they have changed.

If the permissions have changed back to the undesired configuration you have a GPO (Group Policy Object) that is changing the Folder permissions. This is the route I would go, every 12 hours sounds about standard for the Group Policy to be updated in a server environment.
