DNS record - What kind is this
Here's some background. We have our own internal DNS server running on Windows 2003. Our domain is tfs.ca
We have recently started hosting external websites such as communique.tfs.ca. The resolution of hostname to IP happens at our service provider's DNS server (blink) Outside of our network they resolve fine and everything works. If you try to browse to communique.tfs.ca from inside our network you will receive a 404 error. This is because any quest to resolve *.tfs.ca sends it to our internal dns thinking that the request is somehow tied into our internal network. So I needed a forward to our external DNS server (blink). So basically if you can't resolve it internally go externally. I was mucking around trying to figure out how to do that when I saw this record appear (see circle in screenshot). In the properties of that record I was able to specify the IP of external DNS server (Blink) It looks like a new domain record but it's grey. I need to figure out how to recreate that record as we are hosting another external site devsandbox.tfs.ca Confusing sorry. Any help? Last edited by Shbe : 05-02-2008 at 12:15 PM. |
