Do you have a server with a server OS?

Re: local profile to domain
Is the server setup as a Domain Controller with Active Directory?

Re: local profile to domain
On the workstation, right click My Computer, click Properties, click the Computer Name tab, click the button Change that is next to "To remane this computer or join a domain, click Change." This is where you will join the computer to the domain.

Re: local profile to domain
If you just need Favorites / My Docs / etc., since it's a small network, I would suggest just joining the pc's to the domain. Logging in as the users once, then copying the data from the local profile (folder named "username") to the domain profile (folder named "username.domain"). This data is in "C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\* by default.

Re: local profile to domain
What if I stupidly made one of the PCs on our domain into a workstation? I want to change it back to a domain member but when I try to change the name of the computer, etc...the domain option is greyed out? Any ideas? I'm stuck on this one.
Thanks. |
