Turned computer off in the middle of a Defragmentation/ Windows 2000

I was conducting a Disk Defragmentation on someones laptop for maintanence and in the middle of the defragmentation the computer was shut off. When I turned the laptop back on the computer stated that an error had occurred and that it wanted me to insert the 2nd disk for Windows 2000. Unfortunetly the laptop was sold with the Windows 2000 OS installed and did not come with the Windows 2000 CD's. Is there anything I can do here in this situation? Thank You for any future reply's.

Boot Disk?

Anyone know where I could download a Windows 2000 Boot Disk ISO Image from because I dont have the original cd's for the laptop. There was a minor error which is now preventing it to start up properly...

Have you tried running scandisk on the machine? The machine was probably in the middle of copying files and hasn't had a chance to update the file allocation table with the correct inode numbers of associated copied files/dirs.

Do you know what's on the second windows 2000 disk?

My System

Windows 2000 only came on a cd. If you had a cd you could make a boot disk from if the cd. How old is the laptop and could you contact the shop you got it at and get a cd?
