2 Domain Servers 1 Subnet - DNS issue
Hi All,
In my office we have Windows 2003 SP2 server with DHCP, DNS and AD, lets call it Domain Server A (DS A). All computers join DS A when they want to get on the office network. Recently we wanted a dedicated File Server and slowly migrate from the slower machine to a faster one. So we decided to add another server, lets call it Domain Server B (DS B). Both domains exist on the same subnet 192.168.10.X, here is a lost of services running on both machines. DS A (W2K3 SP2) DS B (W2K3 R2 SP2) ------ ------- DHCP DNS DNS AD AD WINS WINS Printer Printer Scanner Scanner FileServer Everything, works fine on DS B, except that at times client machines take a very long time to resolve and login to DS B. At times DS B's machine name is resolved to the IP address of DS A, creating a lot of confusion. Both DS A, and DS B have different domain names an exist in different forests. Does this make sense to anyone? What do I need to fix so when I ping the domain name of DS B from DS A it goes to the right IP address? Thanks in advance! --- Hason. |
