Domain controller server 2008 sp2
I really want my server to be a domain controller (for centralized accounts) so I set it up using a guide I found online, I had it setup the dns server so my other computers could join the new domian. I am having a heck of a time now. I really want the server to host a website using iis 7. I can get out to the internet with no problem, but when I tried to setup the website I am getting 404 errors even from local host. Any suggestions on where to look would be a great step. This is very frustrating, I got the accounts setup and all that works fine now I just wish I could get the website to be visible and I would be golden. I was on the iis forum but they are slow to respond and I have had a lot better luck with the users here.

Re: Domain controller server 2008 sp2
first off domain controler + IIS = bad.
Domain controler + IIS + public = worse Are you sure IIS is started? I would do this .. if you get a reply you know iis is working. From the server "telnet localhost 80" If you get a black screen with a blinking curser IIS is running (press enter a few times to get info about server), if you get nothing then it's not. After pressing enter a few times you should see this HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.1 Date: Tue, 03 Nov 2009 17:19:16 GMT Content-Type: text/html Content-Length: 87 <html><head><title>Error</title></head><body>The parameter is incorrect. </body> </html> Connection to host lost. |
