Print server on backup domain controller
I would like to setup a backup domain controller on Dell Poweredge 350 server. Server Configuration is 2 Gb Ram with Intel(R) Xeon(TM) Processor 2.40GHz/512K. Also I would like to setup the print server on the same server. Please give your suggestions regarding this. Is it good to setup the print server on secondary domain controller? Any performance issues are there?
Expecting your valuable suggestions. Thanks in advance |

Re: Print server on backup domain controller
hello Mathew and welcome to TSF1
Can you pls. post the specs of the server other than the RAM? Also, what other server roles and Apps will be running in this backup DC? How many client computers will be connected to this DC? For small network, I would say no more than 30 computers/user shd be okay to be connected to this printer server, but I wouldn't add anymore server roles esp. files or database, I do not recommend for you to have these roles added. In the near future I would add another 2gb to make it at least 4gb.

Re: Print server on backup domain controller
hi mate..thanks for the quick reply.Server I don't want to add any other roles other than backup DC and print server. I dont want to install any other APPS on it. We have Fuji Xerox DocuCentre C11 -3000 MFC. There is only one MFC and would like to add to print server. This is a small internal network with around 25 to 30 desktops/laptops connected. We have other networks for production environment.
