[SOLVED] Windows Server 2003 - WSUS v3.0 - Remote Desktop
Hi,
I have a server running Windows Server 2003 Standard, 1.8Ghz, 3GB of RAM. A host of applications run, including IIS, AVG Network Edition (with 50+ clients connected). For some reason, ever since WSUS v3.0 was installed and configured, remote desktop (mstsc) is very slow to show the servers login prompt (~30-60 seconds). Once the login prompt finally appears everything is fine. Any ideas ? wulfgarpro. |

Re: Windows Server 2003 - WSUS v3.0 - Remote Desktop
Hello wulfgarpro,
Does this happens anytime you start a remote session? or maybe when windows updates kicks in thru your WSUS? It sends request to all your computers and it's possible it's affecting your RD connection. Can you do some tests for me pls? You'll have to do this when Windows Updates starts then at the same time do a RD connection, see if it's really slow. Then do another test, start an RD connection when there's no updates going on. Last test, disable your WSUS services in your Admin Tools, then do RD connection and see what happens. Also, in your Windows Task Manager pls. post the Commit Charge (bottom) of all the processes. Pls. post results here.

Re: Windows Server 2003 - WSUS v3.0 - Remote Desktop
Hi,
I seemed to have rectified the problem by updating the AVG Admin Console from version 8.5 to 9. :S ? Weird. wulfgarpro. |
