OS: Windows 2003 Server SP2
|
Hi All,
I'm new to the forums, so hello everyone! I've got a problem with our server which I have been trying to figure out for some time and cannot understand exactly is going on. We have Windows Server 2003 SP2 installed. Our network runs as a domain and everything has run fine up until recently. The first problem arose when networked computers attempted to print but couldn't. It turned out the C: drive disk space on the server was full(!) and thus nothing would work. I freed up space and everything was ok. This has been a continuing problem now for the past few weeks, where only 2-3mb of disk space is available. I've cleared temp files, history, uninstalled unneccessary programs and defragmented. Two days ago I managed to clear 200mb of free space..... Today it was back to 0mb free. However, I saw this figure, by itself, shoot back upto 2mb, then over 150mb. I didn't delete anything or alter any of the system. All the networked computers save their data on a separate drive so I know that none of the files or folders are causing the issue. I believe it may be a virus but Endpoint picks up nothing. I noticed the virus definitions are out of date so I have attempted to update these but nothing happens (presumably because of no space?). Anyway, thats the problem, and I appreciate any help or advice in getting this matter sorted. Please ask if you require further info. Rgds Mark |

Re: Disk Space Disappearing W2003 Server SP2
Hello Mark and welcome to TSF!
You may have hidden files that you can't see specially log files that are taking so much space in your computer. You may try Sequioa tool to see what's taking spaking in your hddrive. Symantec creates big log files, BES, WSUS. You might want to check out your services running in your Task Manager too and if unnecessary that you may kill. Your pagefile sys is another one too. You may split page files and put the large one on another partition, it won't hurt your system. I hope this helps. RD
