Terminal Services - slow printing
So we are looking to do some terminal service solutions at work, but we're running into this one issue. If you log in as admin, and go to print something, it's lightning fast. If you log in as a user, and try to do the same thing, it takes forever to bring up the list of printers and submit the job. I'm talking sometimes up to a minute. Any clue what could be causing this?

Re: Terminal Services - slow printing
For test purpose, try giving that User Admin rights, see what happens. Now, if this works and decided to keep it like that, you may restrict Users in your GPO.

Re: Terminal Services - slow printing
I have a client that this just started happening. When printing from Terminal Services and only from a few applications 2 users out of 20 now have very slow response in selecting printers. Once the printer is selected the printing is fast. Just opening the list of printers takes 30 seconds to 3 minutes.
The problem follows the users from computer to computer. If another user logs in and attempts the same operations it works fine. The terminal server is a Windows 2000 computer that has been operational for 2 years with no problems. The computers are Windows Vista and have been operational for 2 years with (believe it or not) no problems. Per the previous response, I cannot make the users Admins for many security reasons and all the other users are not admins. The rights for these users have been verified against the other users which are working. Does anyone know if a patch was dropped in the last 2-3 months that may have caused this problem? Is anyone else having the problem? Any Ideas? |
