Server 2008 Assistance
Hello,
I recently setup my first server with 2008. Everything has been going great until my last reboot. I am now unable to access any shares (network or shares on other servers). I get prompted to enter my credentials (even though I'm logged in with my Domain Admin account). I enter \\DomainName\AdminID and my password (same account I'm already logged in with). I get the following error: Logon unsuccessful: Windows is unable to log you on. Be sure that your user name and password are correct. I'm sure I'm entering in the right password as I am already logged in with that ID. I am able to enter in a different ID and password and connect, but it will not work with my own admin id. I've had other users log on to the server and they are able to connect to file share with out being prompted for their credentials. I am able to log in with my admin credentials to other servers and things work as expected. I'm only having issues on this one server and I'm the only one having this issue. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I've tried deleting my profile, but that didn't work. |

Re: Server 2008 Assistance
If you're logged in to the domain, you shouldn't have to enter the domainname\userid in order to connect. In face you shouldn't have to provide any credentials in a domain environment providing you're logged in to the domain correctly. How many servers do you have? Is this the DC or a member server? If it's a member server, is the NIC on the server setup correctly (ie dns pointed to the DC)?

Re: Server 2008 Assistance
Yes, I'm logged into the domain which is why I can't figure out why I'm being prompted for credentials. Others who log in do not have this issue. Therefore, I'm pretty confident that the server is set up properly (ie DNS and NIC settings). We have about 150 servers on the domain and this is the only one that I'm having issues with....and I'm the only user having issue on the server.

Re: Server 2008 Assistance
Have you checked the event viewer on both servers to see if there are any messages indicating what might be happening?

Re: Server 2008 Assistance
I have checked the event viewers and there are no errors when I try to connect to a share. In fact, I do not see anything being loged at the time I try to connect to the file shares.
