cant access microsoft.com
Hi - I've just done a clean install of Windows 2003 Standard SP1, and am unable to access any microsoft.com websites (so downloads, updates etc). I can't ping or tracert microsoft.com either, but can access any other website out there.
I've installed nothing else since the install and have this problem with no other server/workstation on our network. I have also used the same install CD elsewhere without any issues. Any ideas? :( EDIT: The server has no connectivity issues on the network, and is registered with the domain controller Last edited by isellapples; 10-12-2009 at 03:12 AM. |

Re: cant access microsoft.com
You may try these:
1.) Setup security settings into Medium from Tools =>Options 2.) Add Microsoft.com into a trusted site 3.) You may try installing SP2, download into USB flash driver then install in the server. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Re: cant access microsoft.com
thanks for the reply - tried the above, and no difference. Also tried force-setting the MTU size to 1492 in the registry and running WinSockFix (as per a thread from another website), no joy :(

Re: cant access microsoft.com
Have your tried changing http to https://microsoft.com? It might be a security setting issue in your server. Are you using a hardware firewall such as Sonicwall or Neatgear, ? You might want to allow microsoft.com website.

Thanks, I had tried that. We also scoured the routers/firewalls and nothing was blocking Microsoft However the problem is now solved, I learned that this server was once crippled by viruses. Despite a full format on all its partitions it appears one of the little s**ts had survived and was blocking Microsoft sites. Removed and everything is now fine. Thanks for all the help.
