[Need help] Print Spooler Error?

Target Server : DELL PowerEdge 2800
Target Server OS : Window Server 2003 SP1
Target Server Upgrade : Window Server 2003 SP2
Target Server Running Applications : Optio Fax & OECI

Hi All,
I'm using Optio Fax application to enable fax feature in the target server. In order to enable fax feature, I have to setup a virtual printer by using Optio OECI port to receive print job from a unix server. After the print job is received, it will send to Optio applcation and run some scripts for formatting and send out to client by fax.

The problem happened after upgrade to SP2. The virtual printer cannot receive any print job even thought there is a "successfully sent out" message from Unix server. I had tried to restart Print Spooler service and yet it stayed the same. ( Please take note, there is no error message discovered / could be found in target server)

I have read a resolution from Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832219/). It's written required 2 hours in order to make the print spooler to run as normal. But I had tried to wait for 2 days and yet it is still the same....

Please help me.. and advise me what should I do to the print spooler...

Thank you very much in advance..

Best Regards,
Ka Kheng

Microsoft offers a free support equivalent to $250 if there's an issue after you've installed any of their updates. Give it a try, I've done it before, it's a long process, they'll walk you through it but they'll help you fix the issue. You may locate the Tech support No. from their website. Goodluck.

Re: [Need help] Print Spooler Error?

Did you by chance contact the developer of the optio fax software to see if there's a known issue with their virtual printer driver and service pack 2? Or are there any updates on their site for those packages? Normally when I've seen things like this it's because the software had replaced a windows .dll with its own updated version and the service pack changed it. Just a thought.
