Raid Question
Here is my first post/question on here
![]() I have a Server 2003 machine at work that we would like to do a software raid 5 on. My question is this: The OS is installed on drive 1, and we would create the raid with drive 2-5 (4 total). My question is, if we ever lost our OS drive and had to reinstall (not touching the raid), Would the new install be able to pick up that old software raid and be usable? Or once the new install happened, we would loose all that data? Thanks, Walter |

Re: Raid Question
depends, but you should be able to recover.
Why not get hardware raid. You can buy a Dell Perc 6I for $200 .. its the pci version of the card in all their servers. It's a rebranded LSI mega raid card .... very good card |
