Hi guys,
My first post. I have just started a new job and it seems to me as though the current network manager doesn't have much experience at setting up servers. It looks as though he has got the domain controller doing pretty much everything at the moment. For example our domain controller has currently AD, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, Sharepoint, IIS, WDS etc installed on to it. He is off and given me free reign to the servers due to my experience and such. Anyway, we had a spare server so i decided to get that up and running on Windows Server 2008. I have also decided that i want to get Windows Deployment Services working on it. I believe i have set it up and configured WDS correctly. However, when i add a computer in Active Directory (that is currently on the domain controller), i give the computer a name "test" and then press next. I then enter the target pcs GUID in and press next. It then asks which server I would like to use which has WDS on. So i click the server "WDS" that i have just created. Finally it adds the PC in to AD and i assume its ready and waiting to be installed. I go to the target PC and press F12 to boot from the network. It then searches for WDS and the images that i have placed on the WDS server that i created and the following text comes up. Client Mac Address: 00 1A A0 15 6C 86 GUID: 44454C4C 104C 8031 B5C0455A324A Client IP: 10.102.120.11 Gatweway IP: 10.102.120.1 PXE-E32: TFTP Open Timeout 'FTP........... and then it just hangs. Can anyone please help. I have been looking at this for 2 days now and not been successful at installing a single image. If you need any additional info then please feel free to ask. Thanks. |
