Re: permission to see date time
By default, Administrators and Power Users only have access to the Date & Time Properties. You can push down a Group Policy to give them access to the Date and Time Properties.
On XP this policy is found here. Computer Config > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignments > Change The System Time Allowing your users to change these values can screw up Time Stamps on your servers. |

Re: permission to see date time
Why do they need to view time and date. Messing up the time/date on a workstation can cause huge sync problems.
Tell them to use outlook ... unless there is a buisness need .. whats the need? |

Re: permission to see date time
Maybe the question was phrased wrong, but any user can view the date and time by placing the clock on the taskbar. Right click Start, click Properties, Taskbar tab (Notification Area on Vista), check the box for Show the clock (Clock for Vista).
On Vista you can place a clock and calender on the Sidebar

Re: permission to see date time
He also didn't say what OS the users are running. In Vista, a standard user can click the time and bring up the Calendar and clock. They can change their Time Zone and add additional clocks as well.
In XP, day and date are displayed in a tool tip if they haven't been disabled, and if the toolbar is two or more rows tall, day and date will be displayed on the task bar. So perhaps he meant they need to be able to change the time.
