Corrupt SQL 2000 Installation?
We currently have a server running Windows Server 2003 w/ SP2.
We just got put on as new consultants so don't blame me for this setup. They have full blown Windows SQL Server 2000 running on the server. They had some HP Digital Sending Software that was using a desktop sql engine. The HP digital sender is no longer there. We uninstalled the HP software we also uninstalled the desktop sql engine. It left everything for the full blown SQL Server intact (or at least we think). Now we can't view the databases in Enterprise Manager. The services are running. I tried to stop and restart the SQL Server Agent but can not get it restarted now. The error when trying to connect to the node via Enterprise Manager is server does not exist or access denied. I have applications still referencing the databases on the SQL server and they haven't had a problem yet. Should I try reinstalling SQL Server 2000 as a fix. I just don't want to mess anything else up. By the way it's only using Windows Authentication. The Old IT are no longer around and we're not sure what the SA password is if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
