Promote New 2003 Server to Primary DC
We recently had a failure on our Primary DC, managed to get it back again, but want to replace it. I have built a new 2003 Server added to the doamin (Single domain). It haS AD installed, DNS and set as a Global Catalogue. What I need to do now is:
Install WINS and transfer role from Primary DC Transfer DHCP from old to new DC Promote the new DC to be Primary DC adn demote/remove old PDC. Ideally, I would like to rename the new DC to the same name as the old one, but not sure if there ane any inplications (SID, etc) Could someone please advise on what I have already done and how I go about the other bits. Is what I have done so far correct? I have documentqation on transfering the DHCP. ![]() ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. |
