Server 2008 AD Issues

I am trying to promote a Windows 2003 Server Standard box to be a backup DC for a Server 2008 AD.

When running DCPROMO on the 2003 box I receive an error reporting that it is not compatible with the current OS/AD levels of the primary DC.

I've tried performing ADPREP on the 2008 machine with results reporting that ADPREP has already been run/performed.

So the question is how do I make a Server 2003 machine part of a Windows 2008 Server AD?

I really appreciate your time and advice.

Re: Server 2008 AD Issues

A little for FYI:

The Server 2003 box doesn't have to be a backup DC, I just figured it would be nice to have a second DC and GCS.

The primary function of this 2003 Server R2 will be to run Exchange 2007 Server Manager / Blackberry Enterprise Server.

Exchange 2007 is up and running perfectly on the Server 2008 machine.

BES will not run on 2008 Server so that's why I need a 2003 box to host the BES.

Hope these extra details help out.
