Re: slow opening of mapped drive if pc ideal for 10 minutes

Hey,

Are you experiencing the delays on every machine in the network?

And just to be sure, the XP Pro machines are apart of the Domain/Active Directory correct?

Also, how did you map the network drives?

IP Address = \\10.*.*.*

or

UNC = \\SERVER\Shares

I would suggest disconnecting/remapping the drives using the servers UNC.

Be sure you can ping the server by UNC and that your DNS is functioning correctly.

Re: slow opening of mapped drive if pc ideal for 10 minutes

Mapped drives are disconnected after 10 minutes by default. There will be a short delay to reconnect the drive, how long depends on network and server load.

You can increase the defaults so they will stay connected longer.
See this article for details
The article may be a bit confusing as to which setting to change on which PC.
The KeepConn value is set on the Client systems in the lanmanworkstation tree
The autodisconnect value is edited on the Server that hosts the shares in the lanmanserver tree.

Dear Mr. CWBerube

Thank you very much for your kind support.

I tried maping with both method

IP Address = \\10.*.*.*

&

UNC = \\SERVER\Shares

But same problem comes.

Regards
