slow network performance
Hi all .. i am having this scenario :
I had win 2003 enterprise sp2 installed and for a year everything was good , suddenly because of a problem in the server i had to reinstall the system . i installed win 2003 sp2 r2 clean install on the same partition before but i didnt format , it deleted the win folder as usual and everything is fine , i setup the server , active directory dns and dhcp and all is ok . i set up the users , groups and re config the clients pc to enter the domain knowing the domain name is the same as before . now the problem is when ppl open files on shared folders ( even not under the domain as i have a terastation and ppl use it too and i config it and its part of the domain now ) the ppl are suffering huge slow performance , an excel file 20 mb takes like 5 mins to open ... nothing like this before happened with me . why is that ? i dont have firewall active , i tried to uninstall the kaspersky fileserver av and its the same . i am suspecting the DNS , as i set the dns to be 192.168.0.2 and all users use it , and the domain ip config are : 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 dns : 192.168.0.2 i dont know where to search for this problem , please help . |
