How can I assign a drive to Windows swap file? I would like to make a USB Flash drive do the swapping.

Right click my computer select properties > click advanced tab > click settings under performance > click advanced tab > click change button. Here you can modify your virtual memory settings

Re: assign a drive to windows swap file
You do realize that putting your swap file on a usb drive will effectively slow your system down due to the limited bandwidth, right?

Re: assign a drive to windows swap file
Actually, I stumbled upon another problem I did not expect, it is that USB drives do not seem to be capable of giving the signal necessary to switch the computer off (when swap file resides on them).
As for the bandwidth, I should think the hard disk bottleneck, having to perform I/O "simultaneously" in order to swap, would be a greater obstacle. |
