Laugh Windows Home Server '08 on external HDD

Ok so i have an old desktop with around 512mb of ram. I would like to test out WHS but I can't because i only have a 55gb HDD (WHS requires at least 65gb).

Is it possible to install it onto my 1TB external HDD via some sort of hack? (I know it is possible with XP but im not sure about WHS).

Thanks in advance for any help

no, not unless your usb HD is bootable.

And you can not install xp on a usb drive .. unless its bootable.

Why not put the HD inside the pc?

Re: Windows Home Server '08 on external HDD

There are ways for you too make your ext. HDD bootable especially if its USB type.

Some ppl use this tool here

I used a get around trick for making an USB flash disk bootable and made the windows recognize it as and external HDD device.

So you can try the tool from the link .....or go surf around the Net for similar solutions
