Internet usage
Hi,
i am an administrator in an organization. We r using leased line of 2mbps bandwidth for internet access. Now i want to monitor each and every users usage of internet, like how much bandwidth they are using. I want to stop user if they download continuously. Is there any tool to monitor in this kind of situations. Is there any third party software for this. If yes , where should i run that tool or software? Can i monitor from the server or xp machine? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Internet usage
Check out Scrutinizer for Windows. It's free ... but you'll need Netflow data so hopefully you have netflow capable router or layer 3 switch with Netflow someplace in your LAN.
It's not going to be REAL TIME, but it will poll in 5 minute intervals, graph and log who is doing what and how much. If you're looking for real time then you can do a couple of things. First, you could look into Linux as there are some very nice free tools. However, outside of Linux you might check with your ISP to see if they can do this analysis as a service offering on top of your internet contract. Some larger ISP's can drop a FLUKE device inline with your internet connection which will poll this information for you. |
