Server 2008 Shares Stop Working
I have a small network with a single Server 2008 domain controller and two Vista workstations connected to the internet via a BT Business router. The Server 2008 installation is an upgrade of a Server 2003 installation which, as far as I know, didn’t have this problem.
Server 2008 is running Active Directory, DHCP server, DNS Server, File Services, Print Services and Web Server (IIS). There are 8 shared directories and 2 shared printers. The shares are set up for "All Users" and access is controlled by security settings. After starting the server and Vista workstations, the directory and printer shares are available to the appropriate users. After about 2 hours all of the shares are unavailable to users. I have checked the time synchronisation. All the computers are working on their default settings for the time services. As far as I can see, the workstations are getting their time from the server which, in turn, is getting its time from the default Microsoft time server. The time synchronisation is less than a second different. I am at a loss as to why this is happening. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
