Confused Headache - 2003 - 2008 Migration

Have done migration as in microsofts instructions and after setup get "server could not be promoted to domain controller" + Windows starts and whenever I run exchange I get loads of error saying that elements were not installed.

Any ideas where to start?

Re: Headache - 2003 - 2008 Migration

you have exchange installed on a server and you want to make that same server a DC?

I am guessing you already have one DC on the network.

You can not install exchange, then make it a DC.

You need to make a server a dc, then install exchange (i would not install exchange and dc on the same server .. loads of problems.)

You also can not remove a dc from a server that has exchange, you need to uninstall exchange first.

you can't have two SBSs running active directory for the same domain.

Re: Headache - 2003 - 2008 Migration

Thats the point of the Migration process.
You get 28 days to complete the process then the old server falls off the face of the planet

Looks like you get 7 days, not 28.
