Windows NT migration to Windows 2003 Server
Hello All,
I work at a small company with about 20 users. Their current domain/file server is an old NT 4.0 box which is in dire need to be replaced/thrown out. I have brand new Dell server with Windows 2003 server installed on it and would like to move everyone over to the new server. This is my question. What is the most painless way for me to migrate those 20 users to the new server, and de-commission the old server? Except for two shared folders on the old server, everything is being kept local on the client computers. And out of the 20 users, about 5 users, use the 10GB worth of data stored on old server. I was doing some searching and thinking I could maybe just use the MS (admt) Active Directory migration tool to transfer the users with their passwords to the new server, and use MS FSmigrate to transfer that 10 GB worth of data. I'm not a MCSA, or MCSE, but I have had about a semester of basic networking and programming, so any assistance would be appreciated. |

Re: Windows NT migration to Windows 2003 Server
Since this is a long process, you would be best off to read about the process
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...t4domtoad.mspx This is a fairly complex process, if you fail you will kill your current domain. |
