Curious Possible Routing Error in Server 2003
Hello,
I think I have a unique problem here and I'm hoping that somebody could help me out and point me in the right direction We are running Server 2003 on a mid-size network, and one server handles the DNS, DHCP, & Active Directory. At one point, to ease the strain on our router, and promote some filtering, it also was set up with Routing and Remote Access. So it was the default gateway throughout the network as well as the DNS server. Recently, we've upgraded to a heavy duty router, so I went about setting it up as the gateway to all the computers and the server, and disabled the Routing & Remote Access on the server. So the Router is now the gateway and the DNS server is the same as always. All the computers on the network work fine (internet & network access), but the server itself loses its connection to the internet. The DNS is setup to forward to the Router, and it has reported no errors. However, I can easily get the connection back by using the "Repair" function in Network Connections, then the server will lose its connection to the internet after about a day & a half, but retain all network and forwarding connections without any problems throughout. All IPs are static, of course. I know its a mouthful, but anybody have any ideas? Thanks for the help! |
