Win2k3 Terminal Server Printer Issue
I have a terminal server that is giving me issues with redirect client printers. I have users that remote in and use there locally connected printer to print to. It worked for awhile, then when they connected it started not to set there printer as the defualt like it use to. Now also they randomly lose thier printer and it no longer shows up in the list. I have been looking around on the web but nothing that really helps me to much....
Thanks for anyhelp, GHock P.S. It also seems to run slow until I restart the printer spooler.....prolly linked to the first problem.... Last edited by ghock; 01-12-2009 at 09:30 AM. |

Re: Win2k3 Terminal Server Printer Issue
One thing that is throwing me off is that....they will work for awhile...then the printer will disappear from their printer's list. Every "fix" I see is if no printers are working on the TS. The printers do work for awhile...but then just disappear for some reason.....The only way I can seem to get there printer to show up again is to reset there connection to the TS. Another thing that I can't seem to find out is...for some reason when the printers do show up....they do not set there local printer as the defualt on the TS.
I will take a look at that tool and see if that can help me out. Thanks, GHock |

Re: Win2k3 Terminal Server Printer Issue
Here's more info...just trying to provide you with as much as possible to resolve the issue..
http://www.brianmadden.com/blogs/bri...iguration.aspx http://www.msterminalservices.org/ar...-Printing.html From the reading I have done, and the print spooler slowing way down like you said...it seems to me there is some kind of driver issue going on. And a driver issue can pretty much "crush" the print spooler. JJ |

Re: Win2k3 Terminal Server Printer Issue
Ya I pretty much narrowed it down to a driver issue, but I have a few questions......
1. Does driver that is causing the issue have to be one that someone is trying to use? or can it just be a printer that is hooked up to the client PC and when the TS looks at the printers it tries to add it and then slows down the spooler? 2. If a driver is messing with my spooler why is that not everyone loses there printers just randomly one of the users on the TS? Thanks for the information on this subject....this is starting to become annoying having to reset the users connection each time they lose a printer. -GHock P.S. I think I fixed the problem with them not having thier local defualt printer show up as there defualt printer on the TS. Information on how to fix this is at this website: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.c...1432140&page=4 |
