Hi,
I have got a Laptop with 250GB of which i m using 200 GB with 2000/NT/2003 server for my SAP software and rest 50GB with XP. The problem is I need to keep my SAP server up and runnning so that i can use SAP server. So i want to move the laptop into Sleep mode or Hibernate mode so that the system is not shutdown and server remains on. But in power options i have " When i close the lid of my laptop " -- The only option avalible is DO NOTHING.. i dont get Sleep or hibernate mode. Even hibernate tab is not available. So i have to shutdown my system everytime i stop using it else keep it plugged to power connection. |

Re: Hibernationor sleep mode not available
Either you want to keep it up and running or you want to have the computer sleep/hibernate, but you can't do both. When in sleep mode or hibernate mode the server will be unavailable for use until the system is "woke" up. If this is something that's critical to have running all the time, then I'd make sure you have it plugged in all the time and make sure you adjust your power settings to prevent it from sleeping/hibernating. The other option, and really the better option, is to migrate that server to a real server computer and you'd not have to worry about it. However, if you desire to keep it on the laptop, I'd adjust the settings to prevent sleep time.
