Exchange Server
Hey! I have got 2 questions.
Q#1: I have an 2003 Exchange server. 95% of my users use the OWA from inside the LAN or WAN (https://servername/exchange) The tech who setup the server 3 years ago has it accessable from outside the network. (https://mail.domain.com/exchange) There is only 1 IIS site on the exchange server that they both use. This makes it inaccurate when I create a Certificate for it. I have to create it for either the outside address, or the inside. Can I create another site on that same server and direct all LAN and WAN traffic to that site? thus being able to create a separate certificate for internal and external users? Q#2: On that same Exchange server... internal users are authenticated to the server by their AD login to the computer, which is nice. External users have to type in a username/password (obviously). But they have to type in domain\username for a username instead of just their username. Any ideas why? We do have several domains that have a 2-way trust with each other. (16 domains to be exact...15 of them are old NT domains that have some legacy software running on them, and then the 1 domain that is primarily used on 2003 servers) Could that affect it? Thanks, Scott |

Re: Exchange Server
Hi-
Re #1, why not just have internal users use the same URL? You'll need to setup DNS accordingly but this is usually how it's done. Re #2, Take a look at forms based authentication for Exchange 2003 - it's a much friendlier experience.

Re: Exchange Server
you could also use a comonation of host headers and modifying the asp file.
http://www.petri.co.il/configuring_f...hange_2003.htm Or .. just have your users login with their email address. use@thecorrectdomainname.com |

[quote=bdesmondMVP;1893864]Hi-
Re #1, why not just have internal users use the same URL? You'll need to setup DNS accordingly but this is usually how it's done. [quote] Sorry it's been awhile. The reason I don't have the users go to the same link, is because is doesn't work from inside our network. It brings them to a dead page. From everything I read, I cannot set up a redirection in DNS for redirecting internal users browsers from https://mail.domain.com/exchange to https://servername/exchange Articles suggest creating a new site, and redirecting it to the https://servername/exchange I thought DNS should do this, unless I'm totally missing something...
