Server 2003 Active Directory problem.(between office & home)
Hi Dear all,
I have Server 2003 DC.My users are using outlook express 2003 under my DC.They are also using home directory. They are okay using in Office. But They are not okay when they went back their home because they can't login my DC.So they are using as local account. So,Email profile is different. My question is given below, 1) Can they use offline for their home directory? 2) Can they use when they use as local account outlook express 6.0 is like under DC's outlook account?I mean they want to same outlook express's everything. |

Re: Server 2003 Active Directory problem.(between office & home)
In my experience, it usually introduces more confusion and issues for users when you configure and introduce them to offline files -- than any benefits one or two of them may have from the service. It requires an awareness to conditions that most users don't have, and don't want to be trained to use.
As for the Outlook express question.... Given they are actually using express, I assume this is a pretty small office/low impact business environment. If you can afford a VPN/firewall solution -- you could easily deploy and implement a vpn environment that would allow them to have access to home folders remotely, and have the same email....etc as they have in the office. Specifically I'm thinking of a Cisco VPN Router and a software vpn client, or a simple hardware all in one contraption. |
