OS: win xp Pro & Vista Ult.

Stuck at crossroads....

The goal. Run game server from home. Built Core i7 box. Install Vista Ult. Was told limit of 10 http:/ players at once....not good!!! (Need 50 person access.)
Install Win SBS 2003. MANY Driver issues. Tried 3 different graphic cards and still cant get grahics to work with older game (Delta Force Black Hawk Down). Went from (2) HD 4760 crossfire connected to old Gefore 6200. No luck with drivers.
Asus Rampage 2 extreme
Core i7 920
3 Gigs RAM
(2) 500 gig HD's (will be raid 1 whe I get figured out)

I bow to your expertise
Question 1. How can I raise the outside player limit on Vista Ultimate to 25 - 50 players without creating problems? Is it possible?
Question 2. HOW do you get the drivers to work with new PC boards??? No drivers available for Win SBS 2003
I have Good home connectibility via cable modem (up to 50 megs) I have a smokin PC. I plan on only running the 50 person DFBHD server and maybe 1 COD 5 server from my home.
I have many $$$$$$$$ invested into making this happen... I have many squad members ready to play..... I have a DEL 1750 (2) xeon 3.06 6 gigs ram yada yada yada for my first attempt at this but thats another story... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stuck at crossroads....

First, I would recommend you use Windows server 2003, not 2003 SBS. SBS has all kinds of services, functionalities, features, security considerations, setup reqs, etc... than you will likely ever want or need.

Second consider that Windows server has a licensing option that is designed for web app environments. This may save you money and is worth the 15 mins to investigate.

Lastly, since you have the investors, DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME~!!! Spend the extra 1000 or so and get a server, with warranty, with raid 0 or 5 OS, etc.., etc... etc... Worst scenario for you would be to get their investments and trust, and then let them down by constantly having server availability or response issues.

You could get a great system, with licensing, pre-installed (-minus your game), delivered, with warranty, etc... for less than 5,000.00
