Active Dir. Authentication using Computer Name
Hello All,
I've setup a Windows 2003 server machine as a file server on a domain network using Active Directory for authentication. I have created shared folders and want to authenticate access to these folders using the computer name, but with no luck. When I authenticate with user names it works fine. Any ideas Thanks |

Re: Active Dir. Authentication using Computer Name
Right click on the folder you want to share/properties/security tab/add click on object types and check computers, type in the computer name and click check, then you should be able to add the permission you want

Re: Active Dir. Authentication using Computer Name
Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I've done what you said but the problem is that it does not let the computer open the folder (Message: You do not have permission ....) When I repeat the same steps but instead of using the computer name I use a domain username it works fine. The problem only appears when using computer names. Thanks in advance for any help |

Re: Active Dir. Authentication using Computer Name
I went into Windows server administrative tools, AD users and computers and added my notebook thats not part of the domain as an aministrator and it works. Not really ideal situation though
