Server 2003 Domain
Hello all, I have a stupid question. Is there a way I can prevent workgroup computers from showing up in My network places? Users bring their personnel laptops in, connect to the internet via a DHCP, and then their computer shows up in my Network places. I was wondering if I can prevent that from happining? Thanks for your help.

Re: Server 2003 Domain
Don't allow your users to bring personal computers and connect them to your LAN.
That is a HUGE security risk to your companies infrastructure. The computers show up in network places because their configurations on their computers allows NETBIOS over TCP/IP which is what broadcasts their computer on the network. Unless you create a GPO and force it on any computer that is attached to the LAN then there is no way to block them. |
